Bonne-Femme-Caprines
We’re pleased to introduce you to our herd of dairy goats. Bonne Femme is located right in the middle of Missouri in the Little Bonne Femme watershed. We breed for show quality, consistent milkers with great personalities.
We began as Proverbial Caprines in the summer of 1998. In 2010, we sold our herd, but our love for these Nubian dairy goats was strong and so we began to rebuild the herd in 2016. To reflect our new beginning, we have also chosen a new herd name, Bonne Femme Caprines, and you’ll find that many of our foundational animals are named New Beginning in some variation or language.
In pursuit of our goals to produce show quality, consistent milkers with great personalities, we attend several shows each year and we are ADGA Plus members, with regular supervised milk tests. Our bucks are all DNA tested and some of the does as well. All are G6S normal based on either testing or parentage. All of our animals over 1 year of age are CAE tested yearly. All animals are vaccinated for CDT and any travelling to shows are vaccinated for pneumonia. Does are wormed after kidding (a known stressful time) and otherwise only as needed as indicated by FAMACHA and/or fecal testing. Copper bolus are given to all animals before breeding and as needed.
Kids are bottle-fed colostrum and pasteurized milk. Kids are given a daily coccidia preventative in their milk. Kids receive CDT and pneumonia vaccines.
