Camelot Cattle CO Quetzalcoatl

We weren’t planning to add another buck to the herd. However, we need to add  the propensity for higher milk production into our herd. Yet, we did not want to lose any udder support in doing so. So, when we saw this buckling for sale, an impulsive inquiry was made. And then the idea just ruminated around for a few days. Research into the pedigree just seemed to keep confirming that maybe this guy was meant to come to us. He’s related to Mika through a doe we absolutely loved, Easy Stream Bridget. In fact, Bridget and her paternal sister, Salena, are why Liaison features heavily in our breeding program. Quetzal is related to Lishan, through her granddam. He’s related to all of Debut, Pink, Hottie, Hero, and Galaxy’s offspring through Woest-Hoeve Royal Fortune. The dam of Hero’s daughter, 2019 Junior National Champion GCH Tamris Farm Sap’s AH Azurite 11*M, SGCH Tamris Farm Sapphire 10*M , 2 times a Top Ten milker, is in Quetzal’s pedigree so we know those genetics work with Hero’s lines and are productive.

His Wingwood side needs no introduction. Actually, with an eye towards increasing our milk production, we had an Altima kid as our back up if Leo was not born. If you follow the Top Ten, his dam’s side is already known to you as well. Quetzal’s  dam is Camelot Cattle Co Mystique 5*M , daughter of multiple times Elite Top Ten Breed Leader SG Camelot Cattle Co Mischief 4*M . As a first freshener, Mystique scored those hard to achieve 40s in the three udder traits of fore udder attachment (43), rear udder height (46) and rear udder arch (42) while also milking 3578 lbs. As a second freshener she peaked near 15 lbs a day and her production has increased with a third freshening.
